Our Client is one of the most iconic and well-known leading Motorcycle manufacturers in the World. Creating modern classics and with a healthy order book, it is our privilege to now be supporting them with the recruitment of an experienced Project Engineer – Chassis on a permanent basis. This role forms part of the wider Chassis team, taking the lead on specific projects and components, helping to shape the future of our Clients product portfolio.

We are looking for people with experience of defining major components, assemblies and systems from concept to production, ensuring fulfillment of product attributes and requirements against targets. You should be able to apply and propagate design and development experience throughout the projects and manage the workload and technical development of a small group of engineers, assisting the Team Leader in effectively managing the team.

Your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

-Managing key aspects of new model development such as ABS.
-Ownership and coordination of major vehicle development and testing activities.
-Managing a small team (1-3 people) of Design Engineers.
-Planning and overseeing the delivery of many major chassis subassemblies or systems within the requirements of the company’s New Product Introduction (NPI) system.
-Designing systems and components for new and updated chassis projects, considering function, cost, manufacture, assembly and quality.
-Producing good quality 3D CAD models using Pro-Engineer.
-Producing good quality 2D engineering drawings.
-Following and helping to maintain design, operational and quality procedures.
-Producing supporting documentation for designs, as required.
-Liaising with internal departments such as, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality and Assembly.
-Liaising with external international suppliers.
-Managing time and workload effectively.
-Representing the design team or Product Development department in interdepartmental meetings in the absence of the team leader.
-May manage the delivery of a derivative motorcycle.
-Assisting in drafting & updating design and development procedures.

Qualifications & Experience ideally required:

-Should ideally possess a Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred), although those with lesser qualifications and plenty of relevant experience will also be considered.
-Should be a competent Project Design Engineer who has experience working in an Automotive manufacturing environment, better still in Motorcycle manufacturing, who has a good understanding of Chassis layout and construction.
-You will need past experience in engineering design of components and subassemblies.
-You will have a good knowledge of manufacturing processes.
-Should ideally be a competent user of Pro-Engineer (Pro-E) with experience of creating and releasing 2D technical drawings.
-Should have an understanding of geometric tolerances on 2D drawings.
-Practical experience of vehicle maintenance and preparation is advantageous.
-Some experience in designing to Regulatory requirements as applied to motorcycles would be very useful.

The remuneration on offer is, to an extent, negotiable and will be based upon relevant experience. Additionally you will be entitled to a bonus scheme, contributory pension scheme, private health care and life assurance policies.
