A complete reconfiguration of transport operations
throughout Europe – High Street Retailing
This is, perhaps, an unique challenge in the command and re-configuration of the Company’s transport, freight and customs activities – with an aim to be ‘Best in Class’, through full SKU availability, on a global basis. The Client is a premium fashion retailer with traditional store outlets, e-commerce offerings and joint venture stores throughout the world. Fiercely protective about its brands, the business is growing substantially through new product development and through high demand. Professional and proactive management of the function is pivotal to its future and this is probably one of the most high profile roles within the logistics sector.
Reporting to the Vice President of Global Logistics and with very strong operational relationships, the job holder will have a number of concurrent remits in that he/she will be the guardian of the primary transport, the development of a secondary transport offering and have full accountability for all freight, customs, 3PL and general sub-contractors. The aim is a move to a 3.5PL and eventual 4PL offering to the business. In addition, the Director will have a strong input into EDI and SAP platforms utilising same to develop store delivery patterns, reverse logistics systems and full inventory availability. At its heart this is a sophisticated transport operation, but one with many demands, on a global basis.
Of graduate calibre and ideally with a related post-graduate qualification the job holder will have demonstrable expertise in the management of transport operations for a major international high street retailer. He/she will be fully conversant with all transport modes, freight systems and customs administration. He/she will be very IT literate with detailed experience in SAP and associated transport packages. The job holder will provide inspirational leadership, clear communication abilities and have the drive, energy and passion to produce a World class service for a World class brand.
